UCNHS student bags 3rd in National Bible Quiz
A student of the Urdaneta City National High School (UCNHS) won 3rd Place in the 1st Philippine Bible Quiz (PBQ) held at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen, Pangasinan on January 15, 2019.
Christian D. Francisco, a Grade 11 Senior High School student, made it to the top three out of 20 contenders. Francisco was coached by Madonna J. Palaganas, Benedict Ocampo, and Carlos A. Marcelo.
The Philippine Bible Quiz aims to make the Filipino youth to be serious in the study of the Scriptures with the precepts that say: “Be sure that the Book of the Law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey everything written in it. Then you will be successful.”
Thus, Francisco believes that what took him to the top three is his strong relationship with God and his great love in meditating the Scriptures.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of those who have helped me in my very remarkable journey. First and foremost, to my coaches, Ma’am Madonna, Sir Benedict and Sir Carlos, the Schools Division Office (SDO) headed by Schools Division Superintendent Gloria R. Torres, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Rosario O. Cabrera, CID Chief Dr. Desiree C. Hidalgo and EPS in Values Education, Dr. Edgar Olua,” Francisco said.
Meanwhile, Carl Christian Cortez of the Pedro T. Orata National High School, who ranked in the top three in the provincial level, was with Francisco in representing the Province of Pangasinan in the national finals.
“With the strong support given by the City Government through the leadership of Mayor Amadeo “Bobom” Perez IV, we gained much confidence in the national finals,” Francisco and Cortez concluded.
